Today one of the pilgrims on our sacred travel trip and his daughter shared about shopping for gifts together. It was very moving as they talked about how they used the shopping experience to learn more about each other and get to know each other at a deeper level. Listening to their story, I was moved to tears.

I grew up without a dad and hearing about this tender moment between dad and daughter touched a sadness in me of all these daily moments missed. But after thinking about it a little more, I realized I didn’t really miss as many as I thought. I’m just having these experiences later in this new spiritual family I belong to. Year after year as we have traveled together as seekers of something higher, I find that the caring, acceptance and alignment I feel with these fellow journeyers is as deep as any family.
